Venice during the corona pandemic – photographic insights

In July 2020, I travelled to Venice to explore what the city looks like during the pandemic. What I experienced was an impressive emptiness.

Canals whose waters ripple quietly and are not frequented by dozens of boats every minute.

Single, almost lost-looking visitors on St. Mark’s Square instead of crowds of tourists.

Bars with pigeons sitting on the tables and no filled glasses.

Gondoliers whose boats are standing still waiting for customers.

Construction workers going about their work quietly.

Residents shopping and going for a walk.
